Description
Mark Hovari is a veterinarian working for FAO’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU), where his focus is on increasing the emergency preparedness for African swine fever (ASF) in the Balkan region. His carrier started in 2012 as a state veterinarian at the National Food Chain Safety Office of Hungary working on notifiable cattle diseases. From 2016, he spent 2 years in FAO’s Headquarters working at the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) focusing on activities related to training, contingency planning and simulation exercises. In 2018 he was invited as a member of the National Disease Control Centre (NDCC) for ASF in Hungary, where he worked on ASF in wild boar.
